 So you googled Muswell Hill Locksmith, or was it Locksmith Muswell Hill? Or maybe Locksmiths in N10? Did you notice how confusing the search results were? Can't believe there are more than 20 locksmiths in little old Muswell Hill? Well let me set the record straight - there aren't. Most of the results you saw are fake. What do I mean by fake? Well, pretend, make-believe, only this is no fairy tale. Most of the other so called 'Muswell Hill Locksmiths' are hard-nosed business men who have web sites in every post code in the land pretending to be your local Locksmith, Plumber, Electrician you name it. 
OK, I am presuming we are all local here. That we all frequent the local shops on The Broadway. We all look in the window of Art for Art's Sake, we are all amazed at how busy Broadway Pet Stores can be on a Saturday Afternoon. Some of you share my delight that Antonio Carluccio has opened one of his excellent restaurants in our unique little enclave of North London. We remember Chix Chox used to be on The Broadway. (they are still in North Finchley and still fabulous by the way).  Planet Organic on Muswell Hill Road is doing very well, not surprising to any died-in-the-wool Muswellite (I may have just coined a phrase there). Anyway you get the picture, we know Muswell Hill like you know Muswell Hill.

 

 

So in that case we all know there is a shoe repairer in Muswell Hill, we all know the name of the shop, they are famous and they are excellent cobblers. The man who's name is above the door is a fine gentleman as was his father before him.
But are they Muswell Hill Locksmiths? No they are not, we are. We were trading as Muswell Hill Locksmiths for years before the cobbler decided his business name was not reflective of the new direction he wanted to take his business in. You see he repaired shoes but he had heard that locksmithing was more lucrative so he decided he was now a 'Locksmith', just like that, overnight. Funny that, because it took me 5 years to learn my trade when it only took him as long as it takes to change the shop sign from 'Shoe Repairs' to 'Shoe Repairs & Locksmiths'.

 

 
 Memories are short. The present incumbent of the Shoe Repair shop had no knowledge of the locksmith industry whatsoever when he first took the reins a few years ago.  In fact he was new to shoe repairs also, I don't think he had ever cut a key for that matter. I think he was either a bricklayer or a plasterer before, I'm not sure. It's fair to say he was incapable of opening even the simplest of locks at that time. I know this how you might ask? Well his wife (a lovely person) used to telephone me and ask for assistance with jobs that her husband was actually working on at that very moment. It was a kind of 'live' support mechanism that we provided free of charge. 
 

Myself and my business partner were more than forthcoming with help, tips and advice; we were able to save the day on more than one occasion by talking him through what to do. We personally went out on two jobs that he simply could not complete himself and sorted the problems for him and his wife, to save face with the customer. When they asked me for advice on where to purchase locks and registered key sections I provided willingly and happily the details of reputable suppliers.
All during this time and before we were trading as Muswell Hill Locksmiths and he has the audacity to say that we copied him, oh what a short memory he has.

Well, all of this has gone on too long and the good news is Muswell Hill is getting a new shop, a Locksmith Shop!
We are actively searching for a large retail unit as close to the centre of Muswell Hill as possible. We will be opening a state-of-the-art key cutting laboratory with fully computerised laser key cutting equipment.  We will carry thousands of lines of locks, safes and D.I.Y materials, tools and electrical items. Shoe repairs will be offered at COST price and key cutting prices will start from as little as £1.
